pARTners™ Art

pARTners Site Graphic for web

pARTners™ Art is a program of Peaceful Living’s Creative Gifts® community centers. Since 2008 Art Director Elena Drozdova has worked with individuals to develop an exclusive multi-step collective approach to art. This technique of applying masking tape to canvas, followed by layers of painting and tape removal, benefits participants in the pARTners Art program on many levels. By offering them social, visual, tactile and fine motor stimulation, it inspires them to express their enthusiasms. Most importantly, the collaboration between the individuals, their community mentors and Elena offers belonging and holistic well-being to the individuals through the companionship and membership it fosters.

Creative Gifts

Laura and Kenny paintingCreative Gifts is Peaceful Living’s unique day program. Moving past just being a place to spend their days, the individuals we serve are given the opportunity to express who they are through sharing their enthusiasms, gifts, and talents with the staff in the center as well as the community at large. Half of every day is spent out in the community to have fun, give back, and build meaningful relationships.

Meaningful relationships are at the heart of Peaceful Living’s Belonging Model and of how Creative Gifts operates. Our Community Based Mentors take the time necessary to earn the individuals’ trust and build heartfelt, genuine relationships with them. This person centered, relationship-based approach allows us to find opportunities in the community that match our individuals’ gifts and interests. It also allows individuals time in our centers to share what they love and be exposed to a variety of new and familiar activities.

Group Shot CG DelcoWhen you visit one of Creative Gifts’ three locations you will see the individuals participating in crafts, playing games, listening to and playing along with musicians, developing their creativity in our wholly unique pARTners™ Art program, and much more. While in the community you can find our individuals volunteering for Meals On Wheels, socializing and helping at continuing care retirement communities, learning valuable skills on community supported agriculture farms, shopping at the local supermarket, exercising at the YMCA and almost anywhere else you can think of. Using these places and activities as the structure we encourage the individuals’ growth in the areas of activities of daily living, social skills, community safety skills, and more.

Creative Gifts’ strengths truly lie in its ability to be a part of the community. If you are interested in learning all of the wonderful ways that our individuals can volunteer for your organization or help give back to your community, please contact the Site Director or Program Specialist of the Creative Gifts location closest to you.
